Root Mean Square. A formula for describing the level of a signal. RMS is derived by squaring all of the instantaneous voltages along a waveform, averaging the squared values, and taking the square root of that number. For sine-like signals,
average power = RMS(voltage) RMS(current)
RMS a realistic measurement of the output of an amplifier. The higher the figure the more powerful the unit.
