PIM

Phase Intermodulation Distortion. PIM arises in amplifiers that have a nonlinearity such that one signal will cause phase modulation of another signal. Phase modulation is the same as frequency modulation but to a lesser degree. For PIM to occur, a high-amplitude signal must modulate the power bandwidth of the amplifier, and this varying bandwidth varies the phase of another signal, also being amplified. See intermodulation distortion.
