The parameter of tape-head alignment that determines how large an area of tape oxide is in contact with the front surface of the tape head, i.e., the surface containing the gap. The correct wrap is different for heads of different frontal design. The combination of wrap and tape tension determines whether the tape makes adequate contact at the gap itself. Also called contact.
