A mark that the editor places on the head leaders for the workprint and each track of edited magnetic film. These generally put all tracks in editorial sync with one another so that they will maintain synchronization when reproduced on dubbers equipped with synchronous motors. The editor may also place a similar set of markings on the tail leaders of all reels of picture and magnetic film, to check that there has been no slippage in projection or playback.
