RTA

Real-Time Analyzer. A piece of hardware that measures the loudness of an audio signal, either through a flat-response microphone or a line input, and categorizes the loudness into different frequency bands, used to flatten out the frequency response of a monitoring system. An RTA usually displays frequencies at one-third octave or octave bands. The decibel level of each frequency band is displayed graphically.
